The Initiative on Islam & Medicine at the University of Chicago is hiring a research professional to work on a variety of projects spanning community-engaged, bioethics, health services, and educational research under the direction of Dr. Aasim I. Padela, MD, MSc.
Job Summary: The Research Specialist will assist in the implementation, analyses, and manuscript preparation for a community-engaged, religiously-tailored intervention that aims to increase knowledge on living organ donation among Muslims. The candidate will participate in the development of a learning institute in which community leaders will gain skills in patient-centered outcomes research and community-based participatory research.
Education Requirements: Master’s degree in a field relevant to the research being conducted required.
Candidates with doctoral degrees (PhD, DrPH) will be considered for post-doctoral positions.
One year of relevant research experience preferred.
Experience Requirements: Prior experience in community-engaged, qualitative analyses, and quantitative clinical research evidenced by MPH and/or MS degrees and related course-work.
Superb written and oral communication skills evidenced through prior manuscript preparation or thesis writing and experience in working with multidisciplinary project teams.
Advanced studies in religious ethics or Islamic ethics and law preferred.
